Tests...
Stupid question maybe? But I think not. I believe the hardest thing anyone has to do in their lives, providing your given the luxury of being able to, is to find a purpose, a meaning or a direction for it.
It's easy to envy those people with purpose. Those people you occasionally meet who appear to know exactly what they wish to achieve from life and have the zeal and confidence to pursue there goals. It's easy to admire these people until you sit back, reflect and question their motivations. Then usually you find they are only enthused by a need to accomplish something to prove to themselves or to others they can succeed, and usually these drives revolve around some form of insecurity within themselves, or even worse, pure greed.
Then of course there are the people that site 'Happiness' as their goal. Unfortunately though happiness is virtually a myth achieved rarely, in between the ups and downs of modern western style living. It's rarely attained and only usually appreciated when something bad or difficult is thrust upon us and we then look back at yesterday and think I was happy then. 'The Pursuit of Happiness is the biggest course of Unhappiness'. Why? Because all you're doing is setting yourself up for a fall, instead be more realistic about what you can achieve with your life, the key is not aspire to happiness merely contentment, then if happiness is found then treat it as a bonus and appreciate it when it happens.
So if and when you do eventually find some purpose to life, a goal to achieve, something you want to do, it's then a real 'shitter' when you get knocked back. When someone, something or even you own capabilities act against you to try and dislodge your beliefs in you ability to succeed and fulfil your ambitions.
I will pass, eventually.
