Today I am mostly listening to...

Jeff Buckley's, Hallelujah...

Eeecckkk I here you all cry, Fletch has suddenly contracted that most dangerous and hallucinogenic of diseases, religion! No! I'm very glad to confirm that I'm still the worlds greatest reborn again nihilist* :o)

Hal-le-lu-jah : interj : Used to express praise or Joy

My Interruption of the song is purely about the Joy and Pain of Love (isn't that a book? ;o) ). Played on a single acoustic guitar, with a simple catchy riff, the song itself is just so so provocative...

Lyrics...

Well I heard there was a secret chord
that David played and it pleased the Lord
But you don't really care for music, do you?
Well it goes like this:
The fourth, the fifth, the minor fall and the major lift
The baffled king composing Hallelujah

Well your faith was strong but you needed proof
You saw her bathing on the roof
Her beauty and the moonlight overthrew you
She tied you to her kitchen chair
She broke your throne and she cut your hair
And from your lips she drew the Hallelujah

Well Baby I've been here before
I've seen this room and i've walked this floor,
you know, I used to live alone before I knew you
And I've seen your flag on the marble arch
But love is not a victory march
It's a cold and it's a broken Hallelujah

Well there was a time when you let me know
What's really going on below
But now you never show that to me do you
But remember when I moved in you
And the holy dove was moving too
And every breath we drew was Hallelujah

Maybe there is a God above
But all I've ever learned from love
Was how to shoot somebody who outdrew you
And it's not a cry that you hear at night
It's not somebody who's seen the light
It's a cold and it's a broken Hallelujah

Now call me soft, call me sentimental, but those lyrics are just fantastic :o)

(Though I'm sure the 'Happy Clappy' God Squad lot will have adopted them somehow and Bastardized them for their own purposes... Do I sound bitter about that? If so, its because I am! They stole one of my all time favorite songs, The Beloved - Deliver Me, and turned it from a fantastic romantic love song into a 'Praise the Lord' Anthem, kinda ruined it for me after I found that out...)

Anyways, Jeff Buckley here...

Have a good weekend folks :o)
